Join us on our discovery of classic Germany and Romantic Austria. Our days are filled with activities from river boat cruises, visits to wineries, explorations of lively cities, aerial tram rides, classical music concerts, placid lake boat outings, an afternoon at the Hofbrauhaus and more. All of activities are blended with leisure walks in the countryside or in the colorful villages we frequent. From our point of entry at Frankfurt International to our farewell city airport at Munich, the entire journey is a sampler of rural attractions, city events, all experienced through the aid of your guides and their local friends. You will experience regions characterized by their famous names; the Rhine Pfalz, Danube, Heidelberg, and Wolfgangsee, and visit their notable, as well as lesser known, attractions.

   Our Germany and Austrian adventure features a night in Koblenz (Night #1)then two nights in the Niederwald by Rudesheim on the Rhine(Nights #2, 3), then south to the Rhine Pfalz for three nights in the vinyards around Rhodt unter Reitburg(Nights #4, 5, 6)


   We next travel eastward to Heidelberg on the Neckar, and then settle in to the picturesque village of Dinkelsbuhl in northern Bavaria(Nights #7, 8). From here we journey to Munich, the capital of Bavaria(Night #9)


We now venture into Austria via Konigsee, Spittal am Pyrn and settle into our Austrian Alps resort overlooking Windishgarsten(Nights #10, 11, 12). The "City of Music" Salzburg(Nights#13, 14) is our second venue in Austria before returning to near Munich (departure airport)in the little village of Freising(Night #15)

Koblenz
Your guide greets you at the Frankfurt Airport and we travel to the first site on the tour, romantic Koblenz. We explore the wine village, Old town, and open air concerts and taverns, walk the river Promenade and relax in the city at the confluence of the Moselle and the Rhine
Rhine Cruise:
We cruise up the Rhine on the Holzenbein Family vessel, enjoying the vineyard and castle laden river banks stopping at St. Goar for a lunch in the riverside park. We walk to the hillside 13th century castle of Burg Rheinfels, taking in the view up and down the Rhine, with the "Cat and Mouse" castles on the opposite bank.
Rudesheim
We visit the Rhine village of Rudesheim, stroll through the famous wine street of Drosselgasse, check out the traditional narrow streets of craft shops and wine bars and then aerial tram over the vinyards to our classic forest retreat of Jagschloss. We also enjoy a leisure walk through the grounds and forest of the surrounding Niederwald.
The Rheinfalz Region

The famous Wein Strasse(Wine Street)is our route from Rudesheim to the village of Rhodt unter Reitburg. Walking through vineyards to the hillside of Reitburg, exploring the lovely town and a daytrip to Speyer fill our days in the Pfalz.

We are invited to a formal wine taster at Fitz-Ritter Vineyard and will experience a "harvest fair"wine tasting dinner with the Family Waldkirch of Rhodt.
Speyer:
City of Emperors
Home to Germany's most impressive Romanesque Cathedral, Speyer affords us with a glimpse into Roman history, a respite at the Dom Hof beer garden and walk about the broad, cafe lined streets.
Heidelberg
This oldest university town in Germany, with the hillside ruins of the magnificent red stone Heidelberg Castle;overlooking the river Neckar and the old city with its narrow cobblestone streets, unique shops and the historic Quayside with the classic tower gated bridge.
Dinkelsbuhl
This northern Bavarian village of colorful, flower laden houses, shops and 20 ancient towers and gates is our entertaining home for 2 nights. A leisure countryside walk and an evening stroll with the "Night Walchman" compliment our leisure time in the friendly town.
Munich:
Capital of Bavaria
Capital of Bavaria, Munich is a gem of Royal heritage; our scenic highlights include a visit to Schloss Nymphenburg, a stroll through the English Gardens, a browse around Marienplatz the pedestrian center of the city and of course an evening visit to the Hofbrau House.
Berchtesgaden
National Park

Bavaria's mountainside national park at the end of the Alpine Strasse is our route to the well preserved mountain lake of Konigsee. An electric boat ride on the placid waters take us to the Onion Domed Church, beneath the mountain slopes in Bavaria's most scenic setting, St. Batholomew.
Windischgarsten
The Alpine Resort of Bischofsberg is our base for exploring the villages of Hinterstoder & Windischgarsten, walking the banks of the River Steyer, aerial traming to Hutterer Huss, strolling around Glankersee, and walking to Einer Kleiner returning via chair lift into the village. Fine dining, and enjoying the leisure facilities while looking out over the Alps is the trademark of Hotel Bischofsberg.
Hallstatt on the Lake
Clinging to the cliffs of Lake is the colorful village of Hallstatt.We walk about the tiny alleys, check out the crystal and blown glass shops, pay a respectful visit to the quaint chapel in the hillside.
Salzburg:
Music & Garden City
Salzburg is a city of classic music, living romance, glorious architecture, brilliant gardens and lively entertainment; our enjoyment of the city includes experiencing the Cathedral, Mirabell Gardens, Hohen Salzburg, Cafe Winkler, Mozart Plaza and the amazing Alt Stat city center.

Reitburg Hillside &
Vineyard Walk
We walk through the tiny village of Rhodt from our hotel out into the vineyards, past the former palace of the Bavarian King to the top of Reitburg overlooking the vast stretches of vineyards.
Dinkelsbuhl Countryside Walk

Walking through the cobble stoned streets of Dinkelsbuhl we pass through the ancient gates and walk through rolling fields and farmlands to tiny villages in the surrounding countryside.
Hinterstodder:
Steyer River Walk

Beginning beneath the majesty of Baumsleigereith mountain we walk along the banks of the crystal blue river Steyer, through green fields, past trout pools and meander into town where we cable car to the top of Hutterrer Huss for spectacular views and a cafe lunch.

Quality Lodging:
Lodging on our Germany/Austria tour is selected from a range of high quality, comfortable country manors, small family run hotels, vineyard hotels, classic alpine resorts and when necessary for convenience, a western style hotel. We stay most of the tour, either two or three nights in the same place for comfort and relaxation. Travel time and mileage occasionally will require a one night stay.
